Huge congrats to Nokona Alum Tim Simoes of Army West Point on being named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year! Simoes had incredible year playing infield for the Black Knights boasting a .985 fielding percentage on 132 chances, 49 putouts, 81 assists, and turned 22 double plays.

As much as Simoes has found success on the diamond, it is his attributes off the field that truly tell you how outstanding of a young man he is and why he is so revered by his teammates, peers, and everyone at the NAC. Last month Tim was named Army WP Athlete of the Month. An excerpt from his cadet company commander below truly helps illustrate the type of high character individual Tim is:

“You can ask anyone in C2 – Tim Simoes is one of the kindest people around. Last semester as a platoon leader and this semester as a section leader, Tim has always prioritized people. Under his leadership, you will always be cared for and have a voice. Additionally, Tim works extremely hard without any expectation of recognition. Working as the company S4 and as a section leader this semester, he has devoted many hours to the success of AC trainings for the company. Although his baseball obligations prevent him from participating in AC trainings, Tim has been a crucial asset to securing necessary supplies for the trainings and ensures the company has all the resources it needs to be successful. He fully embodies the meaning of selfless service and does so with a smile on his face and a fantastic attitude. Tim is an outstanding friend, cadet, athlete, and leader.”

We are so grateful and honored to have Tim as a part of our family. He is always a fan favorite when he walks in the door at the NAC, and we couldn’t be prouder of him as a player, student, but most importantly a person of the highest character representing his community and his country. Congrats Tim!!!
